Overview

Bitcoin Well is a Canadian company that enables consumers to buy, sell and use a series of cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. As well, Bitcoin Well provides their consumers to pay bills and buy cryptocurrency gift cards for a growing network of retailers. They believe in the importance of educating the world about Bitcoin, to make it easy and accessible for all.

Through the use of 130 Bitcoin ATMs across Canada, Bitcoin Well gives their consumers the advantages of traditional finance powered by the Bitcoin network. In order to OCT funds to their customers’ Visa or Plus enabled cards, Bitcoin Well is leveraging Berkeley Payment’s Visa Direct platform. Through this partnership, Bitcoin Well’s customers will be able to perform ‘account-to-account’ transactions directly from their Bitcoin Well Digital Wallet.

The Challenge

Bitcoin Well needed a Payments-as-a-Service provider to:

  1. Enable their customer to perform ‘account-to-account’ transactions as well as load and pull funds, via AFT
  2. Perform user verification and onboarding
  3. Implement both features on the Bitcoin Well Digital Wallet to Visa & Plus enabled cards.

The Solution:

Bitcoin Well partners with Berkeley to offer:

  1. Automated Funds Transfer (AFT)
Berkeley’s Open API has enabled Bitcoin Well to provide their cardholders with AFT capabilities, directly through their application. This allows Bitcoin Well Visa and Plus enabled cardholders to load and pull funds straight from the Bitcoin Well Digital Wallet.
  2. User Verification and Onboarding
Conforming to regulatory requirements and compliance is key to operating any financial solution. Berkeley provides a compliance-as-a-service offering, including KYC and Sanction Screening features, to ensure Bitcoin Well is always compliant. Our user verification solutions are designed to be easy for cardholders, enabling Bitcoin Well to provide a superior client experience while achieving the highest regulatory standards.
  3. Dedicated Program Manager
Bitcoin Well was assigned their very own Berkeley Payments Program Manager, who works with them one on one to make sure their Visa Direct program runs effortlessly.
  4. 24/7/365 Bilingual Cardholder Support
Berkeley provides a white labelled, 24/7/265 Cardholder support via the web, IVR, and live-agent to Bitcoin Well customers; ensuring happy cardholders at any time, anyplace.

Results:

Working alongside Berkeley Payment, Bitcoin Well has been able to successfully expand the functionality of their Digital Wallet application, to allow for a more streamlined financial experience. Now, all customers will be required to pass authentication and KYC to obtain a card, ensuring a more secure and profitable business model. Additionally, Bitcoin Well’s Visa and Plus enabled cardholders can directly load and pull funds via AFT to fund their Bitcoin Well Digital Wallet. While these types of transfers can typically take days, Bitcoin Well’s cardholders will have access to instant ‘account-to-account’ funding.
